Pistons working smarter.
The Speed Stroke Engine gives you control over the speed of your piston stroke. Now you can devote more duration per rev to what is most important, by stealing time away from those events that are less important.
Imagine you have 1 hour to prepare and eat your dinner. The old boring rules say you get
30 minutes to cook it, and 30 minutes to enjoy eating it. We just changed the rules! Now
you can cook the same meal in 15 minutes and have 45 minutes to enjoy it.

We accomplish this by dual-purposing the counterweight portion of a typical crankshaft in to a noncircular gear profile, and pair it with an accommodating gear on an added output shaft.

The specific profile of the noncircular gear pair can be optimized for each application,
in order to maximize power and/or efficiency. In the chart above, the exampled profile
shortens the duration of the compression stroke (UP) by about 50%, and increases the
duration of the power stroke ( DOWN) by about 50%. It is important to note that the
overall gear ratio with respect to the output shaft remains 1:1.
It follows that this also increases the intake stroke ( DOWN ) duration and decreases the exhaust
stroke (UP) duration. As an added bonus, piston dwell time may be reduced when
designing the noncircular profile. Put it all together and you get
an engine that has more time to inhale cold slower-moving air, more time to capture the
power, and reduced heat soak from dwell.
Racers, this likely won't count against cfm, displacement size, or forced induction restrictions!
